WELCOME BACK TO THE 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR


Physical Education is an integral and vital part of the total educational program.  Its aim, as in all the other curricular areas, is the development of the whole child.  The emphasis is to develop a life pattern of health and fitness and to develop behaviors that are appropriate for living in a Christ-like manner. The P.E. curriculum endeavors to help children accomplish a regard for their bodies as homes for the Holy Spirit and the importance of taking care of their bodies to serve God.



Course Objectives (K-2)

Make young children aware that their bodies are precious gifts from God
To develop an awareness of his physical potentials and a relationship to his environment.
To develop awareness of body by learning basic movement skills.
To develop basic skills used in sports.To provide opportunities for children to improve their self-image
To develop proper attitudes and good sportsmanship.To develop a sense of respect for other’s differences.
To help children become aware of their own physical needs, limitations and abilities.
To promote good safety habits through a variety of activity situations.
To understand the concepts of space, time and force related to movement.
To develop overall physical fitnessTo develop good life skill habits of exercising and healthy food choices
To provide a constructive outlet to relieve the emotional tensions of children.
To learn to following directions and rules of a game.To provide games that will teach cooperation and teamwork.

Course Objectives (3-4)

Use expressive movement in such fundamental skills as walking, running, hopping and jumping.
Show proficiency in locomotor,  nonlocomotor, manipulative skills.
Demonstrate both hand/eye and foot/eye coordination and dexterity through skilled activities.
Use sports skills of throwing, catching, kicking, dribbling, and batting in a variety of sports lead-up activities.
Demonstrate fair play, sportsmanship, honesty, respect and understanding of others through competition and cooperation in games and relays.
Acquire experience in a wide variety of skills, games and fitness activities relevant to the personal level of competence.
Acquire personal values from physical education that encourage living a full and productive life
Develop a desirable self-concept through relevant education experiences.
To develop a sense of respect for others’ differences.
To help children become aware of their own physical limitations and capabilities.
Display safety habits and skills
To understand the concepts of space, time and force related to movement.
Perform and complete physical fitness tests for strength, endurance, power, flexibility, agility and speed to the best of their ability
To develop good life skill habits of exercising and healthy food choices.
To provide a constructive outlet to relieve the emotional tensions of children.
Understand and play team sports.
To demonstrate leadership skills as well as “followship” skills.
To have a sense of belonging, self-confidence and being accepted by society.
To experience success in physical education activities.
